I am a community-based licensed clinical social worker (in WI and MO), a neurodivergent therapist, and a brainspotting consultant who supports folks passionate about community mental health in becoming certified in brainspotting. I have 15 years of experience in community mental health supporting folks living with the impacts of oppression and marginalization including: trauma, poverty, severe and persistent mental illnesses, and substance use. My aim is to bring quality compassion-based healing approaches to those serving the Medicaid and community mental health population. I offer flexible and neuroaffirming brainspotting guidance to therapists and helpers seeking certification in brainspotting therapy.
As a brainspotting consultant, my goal is to support your growth and confidence in practicing brainspotting in a way that feels genuine. Learning is a collaborative and individualized process – we learn in different ways, and we learn in community. Learning requires trust, safety, and support. My consulting approach is neuroaffirming and based in compassion, cultural humility, and community. During our time together we will focus on brainspotting theory and practice, and we will apply these practices to your approach and to the specific population you serve. Becoming certified as a brainspotting practitioner can be daunting, and I aim to create a supportive consulting experience that honors your strengths, skills, and supports your personal/professional growth.
As your brainspotting consultant I provide you with the support you need to become confident and competent in using brainspotting in your practice – and of course I am dedicated to supporting you reaching certification. The consulting process typically involves 6 meetings over a period of between 3 – 8 months (depending on your hours and preference). During the first meeting we will focus on your strengths, values, and learning goals. This initial meeting will result in your individualized learning plan. We will use this learning plan along with the consultant report to guide our time together over the final 5 meetings. Our meetings will include a variety of learning activities such as:
As your brainspotting consultant, I am also available via phone or video chat on an as needed basis. After you obtain your certification I am still committed to supporting your use and implementation of brainspotting to serve others. Some of the ways I support graduates of the consulting program include:
