Motivational Interviewing and Brainspotting
I use Motivational Interviewing and Brainspotting together to support you in making the changes that matter to you.
What is Motivational Interviewing?
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative way of talking about change. It draws out your own reasons and strengths, rather than telling you what to do. It is grounded in partnership, acceptance, compassion and empowerment.
I’m a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), and MI is a big part of how I work with people.
How they fit together
It’s normal to feel two ways about change. MI helps us explore both sides without judgment or pressure. Brainspotting can help us work with what’s underneath feeling stuck: the parts of our experience that are hard to put into words.
Both approaches honor you as the expert on your own life. In MI, we focus on your own reasons for change. In Brainspotting, I follow your lead and I’m right there with you.
